A Short Writing on Respect

   One of my love ones behave as if he cares nobody else, he have no respect for the rest when he think he was doing something important in and for the house. He seems to be like that also when he think he was behaving better than the rest.
   Example, he would put the light on when he feels someone had slept long enough but he would not like the same treatment when he was sleeping. He wouldn't care to put the television volume high when others are sleeping but he would want others to put the volume as low as possible when he was sleeping. Often times, he won't care to remember and follow what others had requested him.

   Through him I came to realize 'respecting those one or others think as inferior or unworthy shows one's great spirit,' and also 'respect requires care.' Thus care is respect, and when one do not give respect one do not receive respect.

   Care is Respect
   To be strict on literature, it should be said 'care is respect,' not respect is care. Yet, one can say respect is all about care.
   Truly, when you care for someone you shows that you respect that someone, and also when you respect someone, you cares. Then, you see you ended up doing not only gestures according to some or your customs but all the necessary thing that shows respect which as a whole is understood or perceived as care.
   Thus respect is clearly manifested in care.

   Respect may not be perceived easily and you may not realize that you respect someone through care as both of you may be too related and near. But when you care for someone it is also because you respect that someone.
   Since, respect is the child of care, as care is the child of love, it is hard to perceive it.
   Therefore, even when you can't see respect but care, remember that you are respected or you respect someone or both.

   Respect for Respect
   But if you wish to be respected, you should respect others too or else you may be served but without respect deep within.
   Remember, deeds including customary gestures related to respect can be done without any respect but hatred.
   Therefore, as much as you expect something, you should also give that much, and even more.

   Just because you do something important or hold important position above others does not mean you should look those who are doing more simple things or holding little important position as inferior and disrespect them.

   No matter you may be a president of a country or group or a porter in the market, you receive respect when you give respect or else you don't get it.
   At first you maybe respected but if you don't give respect, you would not be respected forever. You will not be respected by someone not because you are a president or whatever but only when you don't respect that someone.
   Therefore, the true philosophy or fundamental to receive respect is to give respect. In order of words of wisdom, 'give respect and receive respect.'

   Understanding requires Respect
   Many people just disrespect beggars, drinkers, drug addicts, prostitutes and others who create no harm to their life, because they do not know and have no understanding about their own selves and others. Then, what happened?
   Consequently those people who many people consider as not worthy of respect began to not respect nor care about those who don't respect them as human either.
   That ended up in not caring for one another, which in turn makes it hard to make a better world through words and peace as they would never share kind and loving words for the better of the world.

   In other words, it's because the world do not understand the poor and needy, the poor and needy are not respected by the world and vice versa. The world respect things that includes temples more than their fellow men, and that's very sadful.
   And, that ended in filling up the world with poverty and adversity.

   If you understand about the poor and needy who never made a adversity in your life, you would respect them as human, because understanding them requires respect.

   If you understand and respect the beggars, drinkers, drug addicts, prostitutes and others as human, they would listen to your words, keep them in mind and hope to be a better fellow men and could gradually change while they respect you in return, which is a great achievement of good deeds.
   If there is no respect for them, then your understanding about them is not alive, nor they will respect you.
   Therefore, understanding about nature truly requires respect.

   The world think one should respect only those that are worthy to be respected, but that ended up in neglecting others, (which in turn makes the world imperfect), that if cared would make a better world of peace.

   If we have had a little respect for our environments and fellow men the world would have not been as it is today but better.
   If we also respect our own fellow men whom we think are unworthy, they would respect us too, and that would result in a better world of peace.
   As much as we are respected we should also give respect. As we want younger people to respect us, we should respect them likewise.

   Respect for All: Understanding about Respect
   One of the reason why the world respect some things and people but disrespect some other natural things including people is because the world don't really understand about respect, needless to say about love.

   Remember, respect is not just for older people and things you revered, it is for all nature.
   As Jesus Christ have said, "For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
   And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?"
   What do you do more when you respect only those you revered and disrespect others? Do not those people you hate or disrespect do so?

   Even if you are an old man or an elder one, never expect respect if you are not giving the same amount to younger or other person. If you do, you are just an evil old man or elder one, in other words an ordinary worldly man.

   There is not glory in being respected without giving respect to those who respect you.
   There is no glory in respecting only those that you consider worthy to be respected.
   But glory and great spirit is in respecting all our fellow men as human and environment as nature.
   It is respecting a person as human that counts as great, regardless of whether he is a drinker or religious, president or daily wager or whatever he may be.

   Claiming to be a good person but disrespecting and hating even a few kind of people who the world consider as low means you are not a good person at all.

   Imagine going through a land where different kinds of people live and you got no respect from beggars, drinkers, drug addicts, prostitutes and the people who the world consider as low.
   What would be the reason?
   Would it not be because you are not fair upon them? Would not it be because you are a hypocrite?

   Therefore, remember when you respect unworthy men and receive respect from them, you are a wise and great man, having great good spirit. And also remember a reward in Heaven is awaiting you, for you have done a great job above others.
   Yes, being respected by beggars, drinkers, drug addicts, prostitutes and all the people who the world consider as unworthy of respect counts as great, as it means you are fair even to the people men consider low.

   Therefore, let us all respect, care and love one another to get that Heavenly reward which no ordinary worldly men, who do ordinary things, would get.
   Or else, if you don't respect all nature, do not expect respect from others, not even the Heavenly reward of great good spirit. Never.

   If you respect all nature including who the world consider as not worthy of respect, nature will listen to you, remembers you and witness about your great good spirit before the Father in Heaven. And that means, your good, Heavenly reward is certain.
   Anyway, we all are sinners, equal in the eyes of God, and we should respect, care and love all one another regardless of our positions or what we do.

The Twin Poems: With Sir W. H. Davies'

   Through the poem 'Leisure,' Sir William Henry Davies does not tells us not to care at all about other things in life, he tells us that if we are so full of selfish care and no care at all for the environments and nature but only our desires, pleasures and self benefits, it is a poor life. Truly it is, is it not?
   Of course, as most of us would have known, his poem is about environments and nature. As we read through it again, let us try to have insights from it:

   What is this life if, full of care,

   We have no time to stand and stare.

   No time to stand beneath the boughs

   And stare as long as sheep or cows.

   No time to see, when woods we pass,

   Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

   No time to see, in broad day light,

   Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

   No time to turn at beauty's glance,

   And watch her feet, how they can dance.

   No time to wait till her mouth can

   Enrich that smile her eyes began.

   A poor life this if, full of care,

   We have no time to stand and stare.

   I first wrote down a draft of this post when a friend on facebook.com had made me recollect the little part of a poem I know and when he mention the author name, I decided to check it out to know the whole of the little thing I vaguely know.
   Later, I was thinking of humorous story for a comedy film project that I decided to make, on which I connected the poem as well as a new poem that appeared to me. I call that poem the other missing poem.
   Then, hours later in the morning, on my sleepless little bed at home my mind wondered about... and thus this post.


   Let me write a few part of Sir William's poem this way so that it may be understood better, 'what is this life if it is full of selfish care, if we have no time to stand and stare. What is this life if full of care, if we have no time to stand beneath the boughs and stare as long as sheep or cows. ...if we have no time to see the place where squirrels hide their nuts in grass when we pass by the woods.... and it goes on so.

   Yes, as Sir William had said if we have no full of care of ourselves only, if we have time to stand and stare at the nature around us, we would be able to see at what condition they are in, realize how valuable and important they are to us, have time to care for them and work and fulfill our responsibility upon them. Then, we would make this world a better place for life than it currently is and we would not be poor in environments and nature as we currently are.


   Not only the other missing poem but I also call the poem below, the twin poems of Sir William Henry Davies', for I was inspired by his poem and as the poem do also deliver the other missing message of it. Thus the title of this post.
   I'm glad that I could finish it as it was not an easy thing for me to write, I have to pray for it too. I believe it gives us a better understand about Sir William's poem and help us not to misuse it.

   As I was writing the poem below and looked at Sir William's writings I feel like crying and out loud.

   What is this life if, no care at all,

   We have no time to work and fulfill responsibility.

   No time to put the fire out of the building,

   And fulfill responsibility as long as the Evil or corrupt.

   No time to rescue, when woods are depleting,

   Where the great atmosphere is produced.

 

   No time to clean, in an advanced and modern day,

   Water full of poison, like darkness at night.

   No time to check at beauty's stumble,

   And help her feet, how they can grow.

   No time to act till her mouth can't

   Tell that sadness her life shows.

   A fateful life this if, no care at all,

   We have no time to work and fulfill responsibility.

   Yes, since we are full of care of ourselves only, we have make ourselves poor of the environments and nature by slowly destroying and killing the Earth as  we only care for our own benefits and kind, only care to increase our population, and as we pollute the air and water and mow the forest trees and the animal kingdom including animals itself without second thought, that result in global warming, decrease in animals and river's flow, pools of water and many streams running dry and rise in sea level.
   If we do not realize this and spare a care for our own environments and nature, we are obviously going to make our own life fateful as the environments, temperature and nature would soon be unfit for life.

   It's time to wake up, give some of our time to stand and stare at our own surroundings and nature as Sir William had called on us long before our current environments come to pass, when nature was still beautiful and dancing on its feet, and also work and fulfill our own responsibility upon them lest it would be truly fateful in the end.
   Yes, if we had listened and follow at Sir William's calls, if we had spare a care to stand and stare for our own surroundings and nature we would have noticed how beautiful, valuable and important they are, we would have noticed their condition and would have work and fulfill our responsibility upon them and would have save them and keep ourselves in no worries earlier.

   If the environments and nature are still in good condition and not dying we have nothing to worry about it even with our current life styles but it is not that way. So, all that we can and have to do now is help our environments and nature to stand on their own feet by not only protecting the remaining forest and growing trees here and there but widen up and increase the forest which we have use and are still using up, so that the weather and river can be as it was, streams that are running dry can be alive and the global temperature and the ice lands can be normal again and would not be a threat or danger to us anymore.
   That way we can be free from a fateful environments and nature destruction that could come to pass by our own full of selfish care.

   Let us have a care for others including animals and our own environments and nature for our own benefit, which cannot come by full of selfish care.
